There were tensions and clashes between protesters and police. Activists of the "colorful revolution" have targeted government buildings and monuments of controversial project “Skopje 2014” with paint and eggs each night. Macedonia's two-year-long political crisis intensified on April 12 when President Gjorge Ivanov announced a blanket pardon for politicians and public officials caught up in a massive wiretapping and corruption scandal. Thousands of activists have gathered almost nightly to call for the president to resign, and for politicians, including former prime minister Nikola Gruevski, to be prosecuted for alleged corruption.
